Tensions rise between Kolkata Police and ED over Leaps and Bounds company investigation

The search conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at Abhishek Banerjee's Leaps and Bounds company has taken a new turn as suspicions about downloading questionable files on computers surface. Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters, has expressed dissatisfaction with the mail clarification provided by the ED and has summoned an ED officer to personally appear and explain the situation. However, the ED has responded that their mail contains all necessary clarifications.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee have criticized the functioning of central agencies active in West Bengal, raising concerns about evidence planting during investigations. This has reignited the dispute between Lalbazar and the CGO Complex (Central Government Offices) over jurisdiction.

The matter revolves around Chandan Banerjee, an official at 'Leaps and Bounds,' who filed a complaint with Lalbazar Cyber Police Station stating that the ED downloaded 16 Microsoft Excel files during their office search, altering the information on the computer. The ED claims that the files pertained to legitimate investigative procedures, while the Kolkata Police requested a personal explanation. The ED, in response, declined the personal appearance, citing the completion of their explanation through email.

This situation has led to a confrontational atmosphere between Lalbazar and the ED, raising questions about the collaborative nature of investigations and the roles of different law enforcement agencies in such cases.
